Exposed wood beams add character to the heart of the home while allowing a truly open concept floor plan to greet you upon entering. The modern farmhouse exterior look often includes board and batten and lap siding. At perch plans we design our modern farmhouse style house plans with the smallest exposure possible to create a clean and classic farmhouse appearance. The familiar board and batten effect is created by placing vertical boards with overlaying narrow strips called battens.

Farmhouse plans sometimes written farm house plans or farmhouse home plans are as varied as the regional farms they once presided over but usually include gabled roofs and generous porches at front or back or as wrap around verandas.
